Man, this series is quickly becoming one of my favourites! It certainly deserves all the hype surrounding it!

The plot became so much more intriguing and political and fascinating that I could not stop reading. The writing was fast-paced and everything was well described and vivid that it made my ride more than only enjoyable. Truly, Marissa Meyer is here confirmed to be one of my favourite authors and I think I will now read everything she writes!

Scarlet picks up some days after Cinder. And while we are introduced to new faces, I enjoyed seeing Cinder once more. She is now starting to (kind of) accept her new identity (though she is still reluctant to do so – I mean, who wouldn’t?) and her newfound lunar powers. I liked her character development a lot in this sequel and how she strives to pick up all the pieces of her past in the hope of a better understanding. Plus, she is more kickass now with her new body parts! Hell yeah!

Scarlet is one of the fresh faces we got to meet in this one, and she is glorious. Courageous and determined, she is one girl I would love to have as a friend. I really enjoyed her character and how she was ready to do anything for her grand-mother was admirable. Darn, she was fabulous! Her stubbornness, I found, was not annoying; instead, it made everything… Well, better. I am excited to see her again in Cress!

Wolf is one heck of an interesting and complex character. While I did not warm up to him (and I still don’t… Well, less now… Sorry!), I found his character very well thought of and written. I just felt that sometimes he was… well… less hollow. But by the end of Scarlet he does change a bit so I’m hoping for the best about him!

Now, to my new favourite person. Oh, Captain Thorne! Marry me! Besides Iko, he is now my favourite person in this series. No offence to Cinder, but he is so. Damn. Hawt! His humour was exactly what he needed, and I loved it everytime he appeared in his book! Dang, I must read his novella! (p.s: And I did. It was amazing *o* )But he was so amazing and sarcastic, I felt he is the Leo Valdez of this crew!

There are, now, certain things that really did not “connect” to me, like the attraction between Sarlet and Wolf. Girl, you have met him for… what? 2, maybe 3 days? At least Cinder waited 2 weeks! And yes, weirdly, this was one of my main issues. I say weirdly, because I normally enjoy romances in YA, but this one… I feel like instead we should have given it more time to blossom. Also, there are a bunch of things I saw coming, and while it did not make me enjoy the book less… Well, everything became less surprising.

I liked the bits and pieces of Kai thrown in this book, and while it wasn’t entirely satisfactory… well, it was nice. Also, Iko rocks. I cannot add anything to that without spoilers, but damn! She is the best.

Surprisingly, I cannot bring myself to hate Levana. Maybe because she is so magnificently evil…? This does not make much sense, but I really admire her. Like, really. Really really. Maybe she used her lunar power on me 😉 I really hope she has more screen time in Cress, and I’m really excited to discover Fairest.

I loved how the book ended and I am so looking forward to Cress! If you have yet to join the growing Lunar fan club, then do so! I promise you that you won’t be disappointed!
